Geodata

Man signing paperThe Geodata team is responsible for the development and maintenance of our Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and spatial data management, including Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG).   

Both the commercial and public sector hold vast amounts of information. In the majority of cases, these datasets hold a location or an address and Geography is therefore the best way to reference them and bring them to life.  

Using Geographical technologies it is possible to link data by location to generate additional intelligence about customers and services.  Data managed in this way helps to drive improved services and enable electronic service delivery. 

The Geodata Team, in conjunction with our ICT department, has delivered the integration of geographical data into a wide range of business systems to improve efficiency and enable improved targeting of resources.

The Team has been involved in the development of a wide range of large and small projects, and has extensive experience in the following areas:

  • GIS system management and support, including desktop systems, corporate web-based GIS systems and business applications.
  • Mapping development and production.
  • Spatial Data Management including, OS mapping, business data creation and management, data geocoding and spatial data querying and analysis.
  • LLPG/Address data - management of LLPG to BS7666 standard and matching of business datasets to an LLPG or other spatial datasets. 
  • Project Management - specification and development of bespoke solutions and management of geodata projects.
