Human Resources played a major role in the secondment rather than transfer of City Council employees to Liverpool Direct Limited.
First, HR was responsible for leading consultation and negotiation with the trade unions, and careful long-term relationship building averted threatened industrial action in the early stages.
Through careful long-term relationship building, HR ensured that the trade unions worked enthusiastically in participative mode.

Our award winning Human Resource Service offers a comprehensive range of support services to a large and varied customer base, covering all aspects of the human resource function. Examples of our services include:

- Policy development and implementation, including consultation with stakeholders.
- Report writing and assistance at employment tribunals.
Employee relations currently support over 23,000 members of staff. Our CRB team process over 6,000 application forms a year. In 2005 our recruitment team was responsible for processing over 600 cases, comprising over 1,400 posts. In 2006 we continued to grow volumes.
We also provide HR services to an increasing number of small businesses by either removing the complexities associated with employee relations, or increasing their own capacity to address them.
