Support for high profile events at ACC Liverpool
Date: 11/11/2009
Liverpool Direct Limited (LDL) has been praised for its superb ICT support provided for high profile events at ACC Liverpool, home to the BT Convention Centre and Echo Arena, recently.
The Davis Cup, the international team tennis competition, was held between 9 – 21 September at the Echo Arena. Meanwhile, the 141st Trades Union Congress took place between 14 – 17 September in the neighboring BT Convention Centre.
Hosting these two large scale events simultaneously was a huge challenge for Liverpool Direct Limited as both events had differing and complex requirements.
Tom Lechthaler, Head of Event Management – BT Convention Centre - praised Liverpool Direct Limited, saying: “I would like to personally thank the team at Liverpool Direct Limited for the IT support that we have received during the recent TUC conference. This conference has been particularly challenging and the team has constantly shown utmost professionalism with nothing ever being too much trouble. This is true support and we could not have hosted such a successful event without it.”
LDL successfully demonstrated its flexibility and capability by delivering the ICT Support both events. For the Davis Cup, support included 100% wireless connection, a live televised feed around the site to various LCD screens over the data network, LAN setup, ISDN, fibre and internet connectivity for the BBC for their live TV broadcast and Radio 5 live.
ICT supported the TUC by creating a private secure data network and temporary communications room for a number of servers, and providing dedicated connectivity to TUC head offices. A dedicated press village and media centre was set-up with access to internet connectivity and a number of exhibitors where provided with mini office areas within their exhibition stands. Wireless intranet connection was also provided to all delegates for the entire conference and live news feeds and support was made available for the BBC and Sky TV.
These two huge and demanding events further established LDL as an excellent ICT provider with positive feedback for both events and firm confirmation that both parties will return to Liverpool in the future.
